Monterey Trip: Day 1

I finally found my camera cord, so I'd love to share some pictures from my trip to Monterey! My mom, my aunt and I drove up to Monterey to take a campus tour of CSUMB and see the sights up there. My best friend Shannen happened to be visiting her boyfriend in Carmel Valley that week, so we vowed to spend some time together, making the trip even more exciting!

He may look cute, but he will steal everything you love and hoard it underneath the bed.
This little pain in the pinfeathers is my aunt's dog, Jordan, who had to come along because she didn't want to leave him in a kennel. Luckily, he was quite sweet and a very good sport about the 5 hour car ride.

The El Adobe Inn, and the park across the street!
By the time we pulled up at the El Adobe Inn, I was pretty tired, but much more eager to look around. It was cloudy, and forty degrees cooler outside than where I had come from-- SO glad I picked central California to go to school! I am a huge fan of the cold.

The back parking lot was SO beautiful and flowery, and that little white house on the right was adorable! I wanted it. I also followed a kitty around the lot because I am a grown woman.
My aunt wanted to rest, so my mom and I decided to take a walk (as mom said, "We can sleep when we get home!") and saw some of the little things downtown, like these old buildings.

After an ordeal with a squirrel in the courtyard of a historic house (it wanted my coffee and was prepared to jump on my face to get it), we decided to hoof it back and get some food. We had probably walked about 5 or 6 miles at this point.

We had overpriced, not-even-that-good Chinese for dinner, and then Shannen texted me to see if I wanted to see a movie with her and Nick (her boyfriend). Naturally I agreed, especially after realizing my mom and aunt were done for the day (and it was only 6 PM!). They drove over to get me in her truck, and I finally got to meet her boyfriend of nearly two years in person (having your best friend far away does that!). He was very nice and way more laid-back than he looked!

We went to the Del Monte Center (which is like an open-air mall) and got Starbucks, wandered around until our movie time, and then saw Horrible Bosses, which was completely hilarious. Besides having a fantastic cast, the plot reminded me of "9-to-5" but it was fabulous and I was literally guffawing throughout the entire thing. I loved it.

We went to Cold Stone and Shannen got icecream while I got a milk and cookies shake (my new favorite: sweet cream ice cream and oreos in a shake. Mmmm!). Then we headed back to the Inn, and Shannen and Nick came in and visited for a while, then headed back home so we could all sleep and get ready for day 2, the campus tour!
