Fourth of July (and the two days after!)

Although I don't have any pictures from the Fourth of July besides this one, I'm happy to say that it went quite well! Matt showed up that morning, we spent a few hours hanging out and then whipped together the best batch of deviled eggs I have ever had! So delicious! We even had bacon bits and green olives as toppings! Matt was super impressed with my ability to eat green olives without even blinking (while he made horrible faces! He's so silly).

After that we headed to our friend Val's for a barbecue, which was wonderful! She looked so adorable and festive. The food was yummy!

Matt and I left a bit early to go find some fireworks. In case you're not familiar with Lancaster, fireworks are not legal here, so they can be hard to come by without driving to the next town over.

We went on a walk through my neighborhood and soon, we found a family who were setting off little street fireworks as well as the HUGE ones in the sky! Plus, from that spot, we could see all of the fireworks going off miles away in Antelope Acres, and even the ones at the baseball stadium! From our spot on the curb, we got to talk and watch fireworks without any of the work or money ;) It was perfect! Plus, when we were walking back it was right during a GIANT yellow moonrise, which leads me to Thursday!

Thursday, we went and saw Moonrise Kingdom, which was completely perfect! It was Matt's first Wes Anderson movie ever, and he is one of my favorite directors. Had I known this, I'd have amended it immediately, but Moonrise Kingdom was the perfect introduction. I think it's my favorite Wes Anderson movie to date! It's so fun and happy and cute, and makes even me want to go camping (I've never been!).

We also went on a hunt for plain donuts so we could nom on them after watching It Happened One Night with my parents during dinner. I love that movie so much! Gotta love Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert! We had plain donuts dunked in coffee and it was splendid.

This morning we had salsa eggs, plain donuts, and coffee for breakfast and then went to Apollo Park... or attempted to. If the above picture indicates anything, the drive is very boring so it feels MUCH longer than it is. Luckily, we got there eventually!

This is Apollo Park. Gorgeous, right? This park is where I learned to ride a bike, where I spent many hours feeding ducks and geese, and where I dragged everyone to the little "cave" under the bridge to look for secret passages. (There weren't any.) We saw some squirrels, plenty of families fishing and playing, and basically an armada of waterfowl.

I was not kidding.

I got some pictures with my disposable camera, too! They're actually probably better than the digital ones... at least the ones of Matt and I! I'm trying so hard to get over the whole "nobody wants you to take pictures with them around" stigma. It's working so far!

Then we came home and made Orange Push Pop smoothies and salt and vinegar chips and watched Radio Days. Keeping cool!

Hope you all had a nice few days, and are preparing to have a nice weekend! I'll be working on clearing out my future apartment, yee!
