I was waiting to introduce her to you until I figured out what to name her, which took me about a week and a half: I don't name anything until one jumps out at me.
So, without further ado,
meet Oswin!
Isn't she just a darling? Oswin is, from what we can tell, a Maine Coon, but I suspect she may be part ragdoll because she goes completely limp when you pick her up. She's fluffy and mischievous and loves to let the light in (read: yank my makeshift curtain down).
I was visiting my parents one weekend and decided, after getting the okay from my aunt/landlady, to go hunt for a kitty of my own. Saturday's trip to pet adoptions at Petco and Petsmart were fruitless, but on Sunday we decided to go to the local animal shelter/pound and see if any kitties struck my fancy.
Oswin was meowing from the first moment we walked in, nonstop. Every time I walked by her she reached out her little paw at me and tried to grab my sleeve. I'll admit she didn't catch my eye at first, mostly because I wasn't sure about a longhaired cat, but when they pulled her out of the cage and set her in my arms and she just completely relaxed and stopped meowing, I knew she was my girl. I paid for her and came back up Wednesday to pick her up after she was fixed and given her shots, and the first few days she lazed around the house and was attached to me at the hip, but now she's started running around and getting into trouble. She's such a doll, and loves to cuddle.
She's such a sweet little girl (who will someday be a very big girl if she really is a Maine Coon) who is talkative and curious and loves to knead on blankets. She is just the sweetest. I adore her, and I can't wait until Matt is done with school so he can come down and meet her, because really she is our cat, not just mine, I just happen to have the more convenient living arrangement to accomodate a feline friend.
I just love my little girl!

Ahh so cute, I wish I could have a cat some day too :)
