Matt's visits are usually fairly short so we try to do a lot of cool things, and our spring break tradition for the past three years has been to go to Charlie Brown Farms! It's this HUGE gift shop with all sorts of cool junk and candy, plus a restaurant that serves BBQ and legendary shakes!
See what I mean about weird junk? Talk about superkitsch. This is the kitsch major leagues.
check out all the gnomes behind him though! I told him we're having a gnome in our future yard.
Then later a lady came up to us as we were browsing soda and said to me "You've got a very handsome boyfriend!" I was like "Thank you! I know!" while Matt stood there making the most bizarre face. He is the silliest.
But after that I did manage to get a picture of him.
I call this his "Superman" shirt cause it's actually a really pretty blue color that makes him look all Supermanny.
We had a tri tip sandwich (SO GOOD) and a cherry malt that had too many cherry chunks in it for my liking. I hate pieces of stuff in drinks and yogurt most of the time, so boo. I was a little sad about that. But it was still good.
Matt did this Love Tester thing just because it was right next to our table at lunch and we think it is just hand temperature. Still at least he wasn't Clammy or a Poor Fish. :D We only had one quarter so I couldn't do it too, but my hands are always frozen so that's probably a good thing.
We ended up just buying a whole mess of flavored honey sticks, some Mexican Sprite (SUPER REFRESHING!), and a few different candies, since neither of us saw any stuff we really wanted.
We got back to my house and then went and explored this empty house down the street that is for sale because the back door was unlocked. That is always the best thing ever, such an adventure! We've been doing that since I was a kid, going in and looking around and figuring how we'd set up the house if it were ours. Dad now wants to buy that house. It has a huge yard and really weird narrow doorways and a nice big garage!
On the way back, I was telling Matt about this little path I was obsessed with at the for-sale house because it reminded me of the plant-covered one at my grandma's that I used to run around on as a kid.
Matt: So your childhood was a Ghibli movie, your life now is a Disney movie... at this rate it's going to end up a Lifetime movie!
Me: No no no, it'll end up a Pixar movie! OHH!
Matt: OHH! I see what you did there!!!!!!

Up is our favorite and we've always vowed to be as cool as (if not cooler than) Carl & Ellie.
Later, we went out for dinner to Casita Lopez, which is this little Mexican food place we love. Their food is super yummy. I had an enchilada and a beef taco. I wanted to eat about a million of those tacos. Then we came home and had Sherlock tea (all of us! Mom and I had Mycroft, Dad and Matt had Lestrade [which tastes way better when only brewed 3 minutes although I still can't recreate how good Matt's was...]) and watched "A Scandal in Belgravia." Lovelovelove that show, it never gets old.
Today was much more laid back. It started, for me, with a text from Matt saying "Wake up, honey!" Then about three seconds later I hear a knock on the front door and my mom scrambling to get it. She told him to come in and wake me up because he may as well know what I look like in the morning cause he has to get used to it. She ships it, haha.
He came in and got me and gave me hugs, and had brought me an Arizona Arnold Palmer. A man after my own heart.
We had tortellini for brunch and then went out to the Sagebrush Cafe (our favorite local coffee shop) for one last stop there before he goes back to Santa Cruz. Then we got back to my house and essentially laughed/giggled hysterically for the better part of an hour as we attempted to take pictures with my Photo Booth.
Here are some gems from that:
Well, at least we think we're cute.
I know he'll be gone another two and a half months, but at least Spring Quarter always goes a lot faster and he'll be back in my arms in no time. His visit was short but very very sweet, and I'm so lucky I got such quality time with him while he was here. Such a good man. And cute too! <3
Have a good day!
Jess
